TAMPA — A man who attempted to burglar a house is accused of bringing his 5-month-son along for the robbery.

The Huffington Post reports that Corey Matthews, 22, had to put the baby down so he could pull a knife on the homeowner.

Matthews is charged with aggravated assault and child neglect for his role in the attempted burglary.

Matthews was acting as a lookout for another man and had his son in his car seat during the event. Upon seeing the homeowner, Matthews yelled and the other suspect fled.

The homeowner followed Matthews down an alley as he also attempted to flee, where Matthews then put the baby down and pulled a knife on his pursuer.

Matthews still had the baby with him when he was arrested.

The baby is now in the custody of Matthews’ mother.
