Oswego County, NY — An inmate at the Oswego County Jail was arrested after sending sexually explicit letters to his victim while incarcerated and for being wanted on a warrant in Florida for sexual activity with a child, Oswego County sheriff’s deputies said.
On Thursday at 2:15 p.m., James Ray LaPoint, 40, was charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, deputies said. LaPoint allegedly sent sexually explicit letters to his victim between February and March 2013 while he was in jail.
At the same time, LaPoint was arrested on a Fugitive from Justice Warrant issued by Lee County, Fla., for sexual activity with a child. The sexual battery allegedly took place in 2012 and 2013 when he and the victim lived in Lee County, deputies said.
