Syracuse, NY — Lance Robinson was so anxious to plead guilty to assault, be sentenced and go to state prison today that he kept cutting Onondaga County Judge Thomas Miller off in court.
“I surrender. This is of my own free will. This is what I want to do to make the world a better place,” he said.
Why the hurry? Robinson turns 28 on Sept. 15, his defense attorney Ken Moynihan said after his client appeared in court. “He wants to be in prison for his birthday,” the lawyer said.
Robinson pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree assault for assaulting an Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputy in the Justice Center, and one count of first-degree sexual abuse for an incident that took place in January. In return, he was promised a prison sentence of not more than six years for both offenses.
