COLUMBUS, Ohio — The only suspect in a kidnapping and triple-slaying in Ohio has been indicted on charges of aggravated murder and rape.
The indictment alleges that 30-year-old Matthew Hoffman killed Tina Herrmann, Herrmann’s son Kody Maynard and neighbor Stephanie Sprang during a Nov. 10 burglary. Their dismembered bodies were found days later inside a tree using information provided by Hoffman.
Hoffman is also accused of kidnapped a 13-year-old girl during the burglary and raping her at his home.
The indictment announced Tuesday in central Ohio’s Knox County carries a possible penalty of life in prison without parole.
Hoffman’s lawyer said last month that his client had been taken off suicide watch in jail and was maintaining a positive attitude.
