SCOTTS BLUFF COUNTY, Neb. — The teen inmate who was convicted of luring a corrections officer into his cell and then choking her to death was sentenced to at least 60 years to life in prison Thursday.

WOWT reports that Dylan Cardeilhac, 16, was convicted in November of the murder that occurred in February 2014.

Judge Travis O’Gorman said Cardeilhac’s criminal history and his lack of remorse demonstrated that the public needed protection from the teen.

Cardeilhac was already serving a 15-year sentence for armed robbery charges and use of a weapon in a convenience store robbery when he attacked and killed Baker.

His latest sentence will be served consecutively to his sentence in the robbery case.
