WICHITA COUNTY, Texas — A 28-year-old Oklahoma man accused of kidnapping his wife, then fleeing toTexas, remained in the Wichita County Jail on a $1 million bond awaiting extradition Monday.

Daniel Shawn Graham was held on charges of kidnapping and violation of a protective order, according to the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office website.

Okfuskee County, Okla., Sheriff Jack Choate said his office was waiting for Graham to sign an extradition waiver as of Monday. An arrest warrant for Graham was issuedout of Okfuskee County, according to court affidavits provided by the Bristow News.

Those affidavits showed that on Thursday, a woman called the Okfuskee County Sheriff’s Office and said her daughter’s husband, identified as Graham, had just forced her daughter into a truck and driven off. Sheriff’s deputies, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Okemah police officers were alerted and began a search.

Investigators met with the victim’s mother, who said Graham had parked near her house, then walked up to her door. She said Graham told her he had money for his wife. Graham and his wife spoke on the porch, then walked into the yard, the woman said.

She said she yelled for Graham to leave, then he picked up the victim and carried her to his truck.

The victim’s mother said her daughter was struggling and yelling, but Graham forced her inside the truck and drove off.

A few hours later, Graham’s father said he had spoken with Graham on the phone. He told him he needed to let the woman go, and Graham said, “I will.”

Sheriff Choate said the victim was later picked up in Chickasha, Okla. She told authorities Graham brought her to a motel in Wichita Falls.

Choate said it was believed Graham became intoxicated and passed out in the room.

That’s when the victim took his keys and cellphone, then drove back to Oklahoma. Grahamwaslaterpicked up by Wichita Falls police.

Choate said Graham’s wife had a protective order against him because of a previous assault charge.

Police reports obtained from the Bristow News showed Graham was accusedof being involved in a March 26 domestic dispute. The report said Graham’s wife had gone to the Bristow Police Department to report an assault.

She told police Graham had hit her in the face, beat her with a belt and used a pair of scissors to cut her near her genital area.
