SANTA ANA, Calif. — A prison parolee has been convicted of killing three members of an Orange County family, including a 6-year-old boy, over a debt.
Quang Van Quan of Houston was found guilty Wednesday of murder with special circumstances and will face life in prison without chance of parole when he’s sentenced in December.
Prosecutors say the 39-year-old Quan used a ruse to get into the Garden Grove home of an old prison acquaintance, Phong Le, in 2006, where he and unknown accomplices bound the man and his wife and stabbed them to death along with their son. Authorities say an 11-month-old daughter was left on the floor near the mother’s body. She was found two days later, dehydrated but alive.
Authorities say they found an IOU indicating that Le owed Quan $80,000.
