PARANA, Brazil — Inmates have taken seven staff members hostage at the Maringa Prison in the second hostage situation in as many months.

Press TV reports that one of the staff members has since been set free, with minor injuries.

Authorities are negotiating with the prisoners. The prison holds 650 inmates, but it’s unclear how many are involved in the hostage situation.

In October, corrections officers and prisoners taken hostage were released after two days of rioting at Guarapava Prison, and in August, five prisoners were killed over two days at Cascavel Jail.
