COALINGA, Calif. — A Pleasant Valley State Prison correctional officer died after complaining of chest pain when he showed up to work at the Coalinga facility.
The Fresno Bee reports 47-year-old Donald Daniel arrived Monday and informed his supervisor that he was experiencing chest pains. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.
The 19-year California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation veteran is survived by his wife and two children.
He had been assigned to Pleasant Valley since 1995.
