CALAVERAS COUNTY, Calif. — People often complain about the lack of job options or availability in Calaveras County but Mother Lode Job Training is helping change that notion.
As part of that effort, it’s partnering with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the Employment Development Department to offer three workshops in the area to assist residents in securing careers as peace officers. The first will be in Sonora on March 4. The second in San Andreas on March 26, and the final workshop will be held in Sonora on June 4.
“(The CDCR) approached us about the workshops,” said Elena Linehan, Calaveras manager of Mother Lode Job Training. “They realized they’re going to be hiring 7,000 people over the next three years and hiring on with the state is a complex process.”
