Contraband: Cell phone hidden in Pringles can

These photos were submitted by a corrections officer in Indiana, who wrote, “This is a picture of a Pringles can that can be bought on commissary at the facility. As most of us know by experience, if an offender could alter something in order to hide his contraband, he will. At first this Pringles can looked, weighed, and felt like a regular can of chips.

But we’d soon learn this was no regular Pringles can. The bottom cap could easily be unscrewed to reveal a hidden compartment. Inside the can there is a false bottom put in and then the Pringles chips put back inside to hide that area.

This offender was very good at disguising this compartment to hide his cell phone that he claimed to have for over a year and a half despite the countless cell searches conducted by officers. COs even picked up the can and looked inside of it without noticing what was really inside.
