Secret contraband storage space

This tip was submitted by Corrections1 members from the California State Prison System. As the pictures show, given enough time inmates can turn just about any space into a contraband storage compartment.

At first glance, this bare cell looks completely empty and free of contraband.

A close up of the support beam for the cell stool looks solid and completely intact.

But on closer inspection we see a seam in the paint.

And finally, after pulling on the end of the beam, we find a hidden storage space that appears to contain a cell phone and other illegal contraband.

This serves as one more reminder that inmates can and will manipulate every conceivable item towards illegal use.
