CORUNNA, Mich. — A corrections officer from the Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Office has passed away from COVID-19. In a statement, Sheriff Brian BeGole said that Deputy Darrell Henderson died on September 11, having likely contracted the virus while on duty.

“Deputy Henderson was a beloved co-worker with a big smile and a heart of gold,” BeGole said. “He treated everyone with respect and brought great spirit to the sheriff’s office.”

“Thank you, Darrell, for your loyalty to your coworkers and your unwavering commitment to the sheriff’s office,” he continued. “You made work more enjoyable and will be dearly missed. Godspeed, my friend.”
