STERLING, Colo. — An inmate is suing the Logan County Detention Center after he claims he was given a pair of pliers to remove a bad tooth.

USA Today reports that Mark Traxler, 47, claims a jail employee and a nurse “approached him with a pair of dirty, rusty pliers and a roll of gauze and told him to go back to his unit and have some of the ‘fellas’ help him with a tooth extraction.”

Traxler continues to say that he was held down by several inmates while they extracted his tooth, but it only caused more damage to his teeth.

His suit alleges that it took weeks for him to see a real dentist.

Traxler has been arrested numerous times since 2010 for drunk driving, fraud, domestic violence and assault. He is currently at the detention center serving time on misdemeanor charges.

The suit also names Health Care Partners Systems, LLC, and a nurse, Casey Williams, as defendants.
