ERSEY CITY — The devastated mother of a 19-year-old Jersey City man who was gunned down on a Greenville street corner last night is mourning the death of her only child this morning.
“I’ll never hear anyone call me ‘mom’ again,” Harriet Wilson said of her son Javonte Galbreath, who was fatally shot at Winfield and Ocean avenues shortly after 8 p.m. last night.
Wilson, a Hudson County corrections officer, said she drove straight to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health after getting a phone call from a friend saying her son had been shot.
“They were working on him and then they told me he was gone,” the grieving mother said while standing on the front steps of her home. “It was the worst. He was my only child.”
