LIVERPOOL — An attack at HMP Liverpool put a corrections officer in the hospital after he was stabbed in the chest.
Liverpool Echo reports that the attack is believed to have happened around 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The officer suffered a cut to his chest; he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and later released. He has not returned to duty.
The inmate who committed the attack is serving a life sentence; he had recently been moved from another facility where he also attacked staff.
A full investigation into the incident is underway.
This attack comes just weeks after three other officers were injured, one left with a broken eye socket.
