ST. PETERSBURG, Russia — Pictures are showing the new Kresty-2, which will replace St. Petersburg’s famous Tsarist-era prison.

Daily Mail reports that the new prison will be the largest in Europe, holding 4,000 inmates. Officials boast that the prison will meet “European standards.”

The new prison will offer a sports complex, sauna, ‘fighting room,’ concert hall and museum. Each inmate will be allocated seven square meters of space.

Russia has the third highest prison population in the world, after the U.S. and China.

According to The Speaker, the Kresty-2 is slated for opening in 2016.
