BOSCAWEN, N.H. — A nine-year-old New Hampshire boy has become the first honorary correctional officer with the Merrimack County Department of Corrections, the Concord Monitor reports.

Superintendent Joseph Costanzo presented Grayson Lawlor with a certificate commemorating his achievement during the correctional academy graduation ceremony on October 15.

Members of the corrections department say they were impressed by the aspiring officer when they met him during a recent hiring event held at a local fair. According to mom Stephanie, Grayson ran over to the booth and said he wanted to apply for a job.

Now that Grayson’s officially joined the ranks, he’s reportedly “over the moon” with excitement.
