CHICAGO — One Voice United is accepting nominations for the 2023 National Medal of Honor.

The award, which brings together corrections officers and staff from across the country, recognizes those who engaged in actions above and beyond the call of duty from Jan. 1, 2023 through Dec. 31, 2023.

Nominations for the 2023 Medal of Honor awards close on Feb. 29. Honorees will be announced on March 6.

The are four sections of awards: Medal of Honor, Supervisors Award, Civilian and Staff Award and Lifetime Achievement Award.

“The National Medal of Honor is just one way to let staff know they are being recognized, they are being seen and that their efforts and sacrifices are appreciated,” One Voice United said in a statement. “It also provides a tool to help change the narrative about corrections by showcasing the incredible acts of bravery and selflessness we see daily from correctional staff.”
