NEW LEBANON, Ohio — Four teenager inmates staged an escape attempt that included attacking two staff members at a Montgomery County juvenile prison Saturday night.
The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports that the teens assaulted a staff member in the prison’s gym, ran into the building’s main hallway, broke a window and tried to escape.
They were stopped by another staff member, whom they assaulted, before corrections officers arrived to restrain them.
The staff members assaulted suffered only minor injuries. They were treated on scene by paramedics.
Several area police departments were called to help lock down the prison. All inmates were accounted for.
Those involved in the escape attempt were taken to the main Juvenile Justice Center where they were charged with felony assault, vandalism and attempted escape.
