ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A Maryland audit has found that prison inmates had access to personal information such as Social Security numbers while working for Maryland Correctional Enterprises.
The audit released Tuesday focused on a program that provides work experience for inmates, who entered claims from physicians under the state’s Medicaid program for the Department of Health.
A computer program to redact Social Security numbers was used. However, not all the numbers were redacted. The audit noted that Social Security numbers went unredacted infrequently.
