Paul Hoover’s family says he would have been divorced in about a month and had been upset about his estranged wife’s relationship with the victim

NANTY GLO, Pa. —The family of a Pennsylvania prison guard says his divorce was nearly finalized before he entered a home and fatally shot another man then returned home and killing himself.

Police have stopped short of giving a motive for the shootings, but 43-year-old Paul Hoover’s family say he would have been divorced in about a month and had been upset about his estranged wife’s relationship with the victim, 43-year-old Harry Ondriezek Jr.

Police say Hoover drove to Ondriezek’s home and shot him before 1:30 a.m. Saturday, then killed himself about 30 minutes later when police arrived. Authorities say someone else was at Ondriezek’s home and ran away to call 911, but they’ve refused to identify that person.

Hoover was a corrections officer at the State Correctional Institution-Pine Grove in Indiana County.
