A former Lake Eerie correctional officer took part in an online interview talking about private prisons in America, and had nothing good to say.

Paul Reynolds spoke with Sophie Shevardnadze of Sophie&Co to discuss the impact of private prisons in America and how they are creating more issues in the justice system, reports Reuters.

Reynolds said that private prisons have no desire to rehabilitate prisoners, and thus create more overcrowded and dangerous prisons for both inmates and officers. He also accused them of taking any and all inmates to meet prison quotas, including bribing judges to send juveniles to prisons in some states.

He said his prison was purchased by Corrections Corporation of America, who have a “hands off” policy that prevents officers from touching inmates due to fear of lawsuits. There was also a rise in violence due to the number of inmates.
