LAKE CO., Mich. — The GEO Group has secured contracts with two states and plans to move forward with the re-opening of the North Lake Correctional Facility.
The private prison operator will house inmates from Vermont and Washington at the facility, according to Up North Live.
The Vermont Department of Corrections signed a contract to house 675 inmates, and the Washington Department of Corrections will house up to 1,000 inmates at the facility.
The working facility also means opportunities for employees; currently, 100 job offers have been sent out, with the company planning on hiring 300 more. Open positions range from academic instructors to cook supervisors to X-Ray technicians.
