COLUMBUS — Officials in Ohio are looking into having drones to persistently monitor prison grounds.
According to Motherboard, officials attended a drone demonstration hosted by researchers at the University of Dayton Research Institute and the Wright State Research Institute on Monday.
The idea is to use unmanned aircraft to prevent both contraband coming into the prison and inmates escaping.
“Further discussions” are necessary before anything formal is put into place, according to a prison system spokesperson.
