ARMSTRONG COUNTY, Va. — Last night, the latest effort in teenage drug prevention debuted at the Armstrong County Jail.
The first “Drugs Kill Dreams: Jail Experience” – a two-hour walkthrough of the jail with scenes of criminal consequence and personal accounts from those who suffered most – was held before about a dozen teenagers in Rayburn Township.
Introduced by Coordinator Debby Fazekas and District Attorney Scott Andreassi – before a scripted drug arrest of Indiana University of Pennsylvania communications/media Student Braden Huth of Kittanning through a Pennsylvania State Police trooper -, Andreassi hopes the program makes students think twice before taking a step in the wrong direction.
“If you make those bad decisions, your name will come across my desk. Guaranteed,” Andreassi said.
Lt. Tosh showed parents and students inmates’ attire during their incarceration – depending on varying behavior -, shields and a transport belt that can release up to 70,000 volts of electricity if inmates don’t cooperate and gave an example of the daily schedule and meals given.
“I’m not even sure if my dog would eat that,” Lt. Tosh said.
