BERLIN — N.H. Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn presented two corrections officers with the department’s Life Saving Medal during a ceremony at the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility on June 11.

Corrections Officer Scott Watson and Corrections Officer Robby Lemieux were honored for their prompt action that resulted in the saving of a life during two separate incidents in 2012.

In both cases the officers were assigned to the dining hall when they observed inmates choking and struggling to breathe. They used their Department of Corrections training and provided abdominal thrusts to the victims, which resulted in the items being dislodged from their throats. Both inmates were assessed by the prison’s Health Services Center and found to be in good health following the incidents.
