Trumbull County fights former jail employee’s unemployment claim

Accuses the corrections officer of lying during an investigation into the jail hostage situation in April of 2014

WARREN, Ohio — The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office is appealing a decision to award a former jail employee unemployment benefits.

Sheriff Thomas Altiere says the employee in question, James Millik, is on unpaid administrative leave pending an arbitration meeting.

The sheriff’s office accuses the corrections officer of lying during an investigation into the jail hostage situation in April of 2014.
