PASCO, Wash. — A Franklin County jail inmate was found dead in his cell and his case is under investigation.
The Tri-City Herald reports that the 41-year-old inmate was found hanging in his cell at about 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Sheriff Jim Raymond says jail staff attempted life-saving measures and emergency crews were called, but the inmate couldn’t be revived.
The Special Investigation Unit was called to review the circumstances surrounding the death.
Raymond says the man’s name hasn’t been released because his family has not been notified.
The sheriff says the man was booked into the jail Friday on multiple outstanding warrants and possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver.
