ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — When people open the bible, they’re usually looking for some sort of guidance. But when sheriff’s deputies at the Bernalillo County jail recently opened some, they found drugs.
“These guys will go to incredible lengths to smuggle contraband into the jail,” said Aaron Williamson, with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.
Tasha Richards and Anthony Chavez stood before a judge Thursday after an inmate inside the jail told investigators they were using bibles to smuggle in heroin and suboxone.
