ROCKPORT, Ind. — Authorities say the second of three inmates who escaped from the Indiana State Prison has been captured in southern Indiana.

State prison system spokesman Doug Garrison says convicted rapist Lance Battreal was arrested about 1 a.m. Tuesday at his parents’ home in Rockport. The 45-year-old Battreal was asleep when federal marshals and police officers arrived at the house. He was taken into custody without incident. Rockport is about 250 miles south of the maximum-security prison.

Battreal along with convicted murderers 48-year-old Charles Smith and 46-year-old Mark Booher escaped July 12 from the prison in Michigan City. Smith was captured the following day in the nearby town of Grand Beach, Mich.

Garrison says Booher remains at large.
