MANCHESTER, N.H. — An autopsy is scheduled for Monday for 43-year-old Nashua, N.H. inmate at the Hillsborough County Correctional Facility who was dead in his jail cell Sunday night.
Corrections officers found Mark Amsden unconscious at 1:17 p.m. and began emergency medical treatment, according to a press release. Despite efforts by the American Medical Response and Manchester Fire Department, Amsden was pronounced dead at 1:51 p.m.
Hillsborough Superintendent David Dionne said in a statement that Amsden was alone in his cell when he was discovered and there was no indication that he was in any distress.
Amsden was being held at the jail on $50,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty in Nashua District Court to four counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, according to the press release. Amsden had 13 previous “admissions’’ to the jail, the release states.
