KITTANNING, Pa. — A 31-year veteran warden is resigning from a Pennsylvania county jail after the escape of an inmate who is accused of killing a woman while he was on the run.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Armstrong County Prison Board on Thursday announced David Hogue’s resignation. The resignation is effective Nov. 12.
Hogue couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
The resignation comes less than two weeks after the district attorney recommended sweeping reforms following Robert Crissman’s July 30 escape from the jail in Kittanning.
Crissman was a member of the trusties program and had walked outside to get breakfast trays before he took off. He is accused of beating and strangling an acquaintance, 55-year-old Tammy Long, shortly after his escape.
Crissman’s lawyer has praised the report calling for reforms.
