STOCKTON — Two San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office staffers were two of 360 jailers in the country to receive certification in jail management through a national jailers association.
Lts. Dina Smith Jose and Greg Williamson are only the fifth and sixth people from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office to receive the certification, according to a statement from the agency. The Sheriff’s Office operates the San Joaquin County Jail.
Mastery of jail management and professionalism are required to receive the certification, according to the announcement of the certification.
Application process for the certification includes taking an “intensive written examination” prepared by the Jail Manager Certification Commission and the American Jail Association.
Both lieutenants are members of the Jail Association. Both have accumulated years of correctional experience. Jose has 29, Williamson, 17.
