SALINA, Kan. — A 14-year-old boy could face felony charges after allegedly hitting a corrections officer Sunday night at the Saline County Juvenile Detention Center, 229 N. Ninth.

Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said Micah Lorenzano was arguing with another juvenile at 7:45 p.m. A deputy stepped between them, and Lorenzano is accused of hitting the deputy in the face. Salina police officers were called to the detention center to help restore order.

"(Lorenzano) quit fighting when a Taser was pointed athim,” Kochanowski said. “The type of young people we’re dealing with over there is changing. They’re becoming more aggressive and violent.”

Lorenzano entered the juvenile facility Jan. 25 on charges of aggravated assault and battery. On Feb. 8, after being separated from other juveniles in the facility, Lorenzano reportedly flipped over a washed and dryer, squirted soap compound and swung a broom at deputies, pulled a television off the wall and began smashing computers. Total replacement value of the items destroyed was $5,747.
