STILLWATER, Minn. — A section of a Minnesota highway will be renamed after a corrections officer who was killed by an inmate last year.

According to Twin Cities Pioneer Press, about six miles of highway will be named after Officer Joseph Gomm, who was killed at the Minnesota Correctional Facility — Stillwater.

The section of road will be named, “Corrections Officer Joseph Gomm Memorial Highway.”

The bill for the renaming was signed on Friday and passed with unanimous support in the House and Senate.

New signage will be posted along the route on Aug. 1.
