JOLIET, Ill. — A corrections officer at the Will County Adult Detention Facility died Saturday while on duty.
1340 WJOL reports that CO Kevin Brewer, 37, was transported to St. Joe’s Hospital in Joliet, Ill., where he was pronounced dead. He leaves behind his wife and three young daughters.
“Kevin began his career at the Sheriff’s Office in 2007. Administrators, supervisors, and coworkers, describe Kevin as being ‘truly a great guy and a wonderful family man,’” a statement from the Will County Sheriff’s Office reads. “The news of his sudden death has shocked the entire Will County Sheriff’s Office.”
A funeral for Brewer has been scheduled for Friday. The funeral will be held at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home in Joliet, Ill., and then proceed to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
The cause of death is pending, according to Patch.com.
