PONTIAC, Ill. — A CO is recovering after being stabbed by an inmate.
Local union president William Lee told The Pantagraph that the officer was stabbed in the head with a sharpened weapon Sunday around noon at Pontiac Correctional Center.
The inmate was subdued and the officer was transferred to a local hospital and released, WJBC reported. Officials told The Pontiac Daily Leader that the officer was able to walk around.
The prison was put on lockdown Monday as a precaution. Lee said no one else was injured.
