LUFKIN, Texas — A woman who was being held on a criminal trespass charge now faces more charges after she assaulted a corrections officer with a food tray.
According to the Lufkin Daily News, the officer was serving breakfast Saturday and asked Kimberly Lang Harris, who was being held in Detox-1, if she wanted to eat.
The officer couldn’t hear Harris’ answer and walked into her cell. The officer asked again and Harris said she wanted to eat. After she was handed a tray, Harris threw it at the CO and struck her in the head, the publication reported.
“After getting cleaned up, myself and other officers observed redness, some bruising, and what appeared to resemble fingers on my right cheek,” the officer stated in a warrant.
Harris is charged with assault of a public servant.
