BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. — A Saratoga Springs man who was incarcerated in the Saratoga County jail allegedly assaulted several corrections officers, injuring two, the Sheriff’s Office said.

John J. Martino, 35, of Verde Place was charged with four counts of assault, a felony, and four counts of forcible touching, a misdemeanor, after the Feb. 27 incident, deputies said.

The two injured officers were sent to Malta Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The officers have since recovered, Capt. Jeffrey Brown said on Tuesday.

In December, Martino was arrested by State Police after he allegedly attacked a person with a machete after breaking into the victim’s home in Wilton.
