SELMA, Ala. — A Selma teen is being held on $1 million bond after authorities say he stabbed a Dallas County Jail correctional officer.

Joseph Davis, 18, is charged with attempted murder and interfering with public safety communications, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.

According to Jackson and court records, the attacked happened Friday morning at the Dallas County Jail. Officer Charles Burgess was stabbed multiple times with a knife, charging documents state.

Jackson said the correctional officer was hospitalized but has since been released.

Davis was arraigned Tuesday morning, and District Judge Robert Armstrong set his bond at $1 million.
