BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. — Deputies released disturbing surveillance video of an inmate pushing, striking and dragging a corrections officer.
The incident, according to WCSC.com, occurred Monday morning at the Berkeley County Detention Center. The inmate, Cia Chase, can be seen on top of the officer and then dragging her by her hair.
Chase was arrested Sunday after being involved in a crash. A witness, who had three children in her car, checked to make sure Chase and her two children were OK following the crash. When the witness got out of her car, Chase got inside the witness’ car and attempted to steal it.
Chase is now facing several charges, including two counts of kidnapping and assault of a correctional officer.
