Contraband: Shower slipper shank

This piece of contraband was submitted by a corrections officer in Indiana. He wrote, “This is a picture of offender shower shoes that concealed contraband with ease. The offender caught with this contraband was being strip searched during a cell search.

“Most officers would possibly assume there couldn’t be a cell phone and a shank in these offenders shower shoes since the inmate wearing them had just been strip searched. But since the shoes are so thick, the offender was able to cut holes in the backs and then stuff the cell phone and shank down the center of them.

“Not only that, but the inmate was also able to walk with the hidden contraband inside without any problem because the shower shoes provided cushion and comfort.”
