SOMERSET, Pa. — An 83-year-old prison inmate at Laurel Highlands state correctional institution in Somerset County is accused of attacking two women Wednesday while a patient at Somerset Hospital, state police said.

James Hudson allegedly assaulted the women as they were helping him to reposition himself so that he could eat in his bed in a room at the facility on South Center Avenue in Somerset, said state police Trooper Todd Sherle.

Hudson assaulted one of the women with a fork and kicked the other, Sherle said. Both women were treated for their injuries, Sherle said. Their conditions were not available yesterday.

Police said they plan to file aggravated assault charges against Hudson at the office of Somerset District Judge Arthur Cook.
