After almost 2 years and amid lawsuits, other body armor manufacturers are taking action to address the Zylon problem in their vests, something Second Chance Body Armor did swiftly in 2003.
Under a recently announced court agreement, Point Blank Body Armor, Inc. will exchange models of antiballistic vests containing Zylon with other vests. Other manufacturers have also joined Second Chance in addressing the Zylon issue. In August 2004, Armor Holdings instituted a warranty exchange program for its Zylon-based vests. Collectively, these three companies account for over 85% of all body armor sales in the United States.
Second Chance has always asserted that Zylon durability is an industry-wide problem. Now, that assertion is proving to be correct. At Second Chance, officer safety always has, and always will, come first. We are working hard to maintain Second Chance’s position as the industry leader while we work continuously to improve our product line.
