OMAHA, Neb. — An inmate has filed a suit against the Tecumseh State Correctional Facility, seeking millions after he claims he was left to die during a riot last month.
KMTV reports that Robert Clayborne is seeking $1 million from the prison, Director Scott Frakes, Warden Brian Gage and four other staff workers.
He says the riot exasperated his mental illnesses, which include bipolar disorder and depressive disorder.
“In my mind, staff left me here to die,” Clayborne states in his suit.
Clayborne sued the state in 2012, accusing police of violating his rights by forcing their way into his home without a warrant and arresting him without reading him his Miranda rights.
He has also accused the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office of misconduct. Both suits were thrown out.
Tecumseh State Correctional Facility remains locked down three weeks following the riot. Areas that were damaged are still being cleaned up and repaired, and inmates are now on a rotating feeding schedule.
