LOS ANGELES — Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of late filmmaker Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, has been sent to solitary confinement and is on suicide watch after being charged with brutally murdering his parents last week.

According to The New York Post, Reiner is being held at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, California — America’s largest mental health jail.

Reiner was booked on two counts of first-degree murder with a special allegation of using a knife after authorities say Rob and Michele Reiner were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home on Dec. 14 .

Reiner is currently required to wear a blue suicide prevention smock at all times, a source told People. A police officer also told the media outlet that upon his arrival, the mental health staff evaluated the murder suspect and determined he had a “mental disability” and was at risk.

They reportedly placed him under 24-hour supervision in solitary confinement.

Reiner had previously been diagnosed with schizophrenia before the murder, according to Page Six.

He made his first court appearance on Wednesday, and he did not enter a plea. His arraignment is now set for Jan. 7, 2026.
