St. LUCIE COUNTY — A jail deputy who is charged with sexual activity with a minor has been transferred to the St. Lucie County Jail where he formerly worked, and sheriff’s officials are planning to release more details about the case, a sheriff’s official said Tuesday.

The alleged offenses occurred in St. Lucie County.

Richard Akeem Henry, 43, was arrested Friday in Broward County and jailed there until Monday. He faces three charges of sexual activity with a minor. The investigation is continuing, according to the FBI.

Henry worked at the St. Lucie County Jail since 2013.

After his arrest, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office put him on unpaid administrative leave and his badge, weapons and uniform were taken from him. In a prepared statement, Sheriff Ken Mascara said, “We take these situations seriously and police our own to maintain the public’s trust.”
