CONCORD, N.H.— Female inmates in New Hampshire are provided inadequate programs in comparison with male inmates, according to a new report.
The New Hampshire Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights released their findings after a two-year investigation, according to The Associated Press.
For example, the women’s industry program consists of three sewing machines in a small room. Committee chairman Jordan Budd said the men have far more choices in rooms with equipment to learn a trade.
The committee said the difference in treatment for males/females warrants action, yet said it lacks the enforcement power to ensure that happens.
