Contraband: Paper towel roll shank

This item of contraband was submitted by a C1 member in Canada. They wrote, “The steel shank was hidden in a roll of paper towel which the inmate asked the staff member to pass to another inmate while a range was being searched.

“The staff member was vigilant to check the roll and had to unravel the roll a few times before being able to feel the shank inserted inside. The part of the roll of paper towel where the shank was inserted was cut out.”
